Dear Editor, Nearly everyone in the country will be pleased to see the snow disappear, however, for those of us who live and work and rely on winter sports for our living, this has been one of the best years for a very long time. The summer months could be just as lucrative if local people decided to holiday in this country rather than venture abroad. The weather is not always windy and cold and if it is there are plenty of indoor facilities to use. Scotland has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and if appreciated by our own then we would prosper. Name and address withheld |

Dear
Editor, Putting the clock forward by an hour is fine in England. It
is also OK in the summer in Scotland. But to stay that way in the winter,
means less light in the mornings for Children going to school. It might
be nice for those in Devon, but it is just no good in the Northern parts
of England and Scotland. Can common sense prevail here? |

Dear Editor, I wish it was the middle of summer, not just to enjoy the hot weather but we will have been through a general election by then and will be battle drunk. The thought of weeks of electioneering which are about to fall on us, includes television and radio news reports, leaflets by post, people knocking on your door, virtually twenty four hours a day. Let's hope that at the end of it, it proves to be all worthwhile. Then peace will reign for another five years. Mrs Pamela McFee, Aberdeenshire |
