'Kilmorack Gallery and Allan MacDonald' |
||
Kilmorack Gallery can be found at the Old Kilmorack Church, by Beauly, Inverness-shire. The church building which dates back to 1786 has recently undergone refurbishment of the outer walls using old building methods of that period. The Gallery exhibits paintings by many accomplished artists one of whom is Allan MacDonald. His landscapes are being recognised and sought after by collectors throughout the country. To discribe his artwork would include such adjectives as 'spiritual' and the 'feeling of power' of nature. His seascapes are spectacular as are his other works. Painting volcanic crags and the swirling seas of St Kilda is not a job for the easily discouraged as it is not an easily accessible place to travel to. His deternination to capture such wonderful scenery drove him to continue his journey there and produce such works as River Spate, Cuanie and the Dark Sea Harris shown on this page. Allan who was born in Inverness in 1965, studied at the Edinburgh College of Art, after which he returned to his routes in Inverness. This part of the world is where he finds his inspiration to paint. Influenced by the natural elements of the sea and sky he has created magical paintings to be admired and appreciated for years to come. The Gallery has it's own website where you will find details of all their exhibitors and other interesting information about the area and the church building where the Gallery is based please visit www.kilmorackgallery.co.uk.
