"Celebration Crafts"

A popular hobby which was introduced some years ago is now sweeping the country and creating industrious talented people like Linda and Edith whose enthusiasm and encouragement have attracted like minded people to be artistic and creative.

On 4th January 2001 Linda opened a shop at 32 Atholl Street, Perth, selling mainly wedding stationery consisting of accessories - favours, floral bouquets and silk flower buttonholes. Edith meantime was making tiaras and headdresses etc at home while keeping on her full time job until the business proved viable. In May 2002 the decision to form a partnership was made and Edith gave up her job. By this time Paper Crafts had been introduced and was proving to be very popular. Linda had formed a small card making workshop of seven ladies. When Edith joined the shop she was adamant she would not go down the line of making cards but continue making tiaras etc to order.

However, about six months later Edith decided she would have a go at making a card, that was it, she had caught the crafting bug, very soon Edith was taking part in the workshops which then enabled them to increase the number of people they could accommodate to approximately fifty per week.

After a great interest in Pergamano Parchment Craft, Linda decided to take a Tutors Course and successfully qualified. She then added Pergamano to their classes. This soon proved that their shop was too small and space became a problem. They started to look for larger premises which was difficult until one morning arriving for work they found the shop next door at No. 36 advertised for lease. Linda and Edith immediately negotiated the lease agreement and after fitting the premises out to their requirements they moved in, in July 2005. They were both very happy with their new shop and workshop accommodation which now allowed them to hold classes of twelve to work in comfort. On a fortnightly basis they hold twelve regular classes for card crafts and two for pergamano all in all they now have 168 ladies attending classes.

Both are extremely enthusiastic about their work and love to try out new products as they arrive which is almost on a daily basis. When attending Manufacturers Workshops lots of new techniques are discovered and ultimately passed to their class attendees. Their work also takes them to Holland twice a year and to numerous Trade Fairs in the United Kingdom.

Their Bridal Department is still in production although they hold a limited stock of goods but do try to encourage brides to make their own wedding stationery, help and advice is always on hand.

Because their shop stock changes on a regular basis it is impossible to produce a catalogue of goods for sale or offer a Mail Order Service. The shop can be found in the centre of Perth only two minutes walk from the main shopping area. However, anyone visiting Perth during a break or the holiday season may find it possible to attend a workshop. It is recommended that a booking is made in advance by calling (UK+44) 01738 631908.
