'Letters to the Editor'

Scotrail overcrowded train Inverkeithing

First Class or What? Recently I travelled from Inverkeithing to Aberdeen on the Scotrail Service which was very pleasant especially in First Class. However, on my return journey and holding a First Class Ticket I could not find a seat as the First Class compartment was full of people with second class tickets who intended to upgrade. To add insult to injury I was asked to leave the train at Kirkcaldy as the return service did not stop in Inverkeithing, having paid the full first class fare I now found myself travelling in a filthy train that did not warrant the fare I had paid. Perhaps I should try and find other passengers travelling on the same days as myself and spend the money on hiring a helicopter, it would be money better spent.

Guests attending Last Cocktails on the Titanic Party

Dear Editor, just a note to let you know that at our 'Big Night In' event held on Saturday 13th November, friends and neighbours joined our party in Rosyth to enjoy 'Last Cocktails on the Titanic'. After serving a selection of cocktails and food along with bidding for a place on the lifeboat when the ship went down, we collected over £200 for 'PiggyBankKids' charity fund.

Virgin Train

Last week I found myself having to travel from Edinburgh to Preston at short notice and booked my return ticket with Virgin Trains, hassle free. Without realising it I was seated in coach F 'The Quiet Zone' what a joy, mobile phones had to be switched off and all passengers were reminded by the staff that we were in the quiet zone. During the journey some clown decided to smoke a cigarette while visiting the toilet, of course the alarm went off, but that did not deter the staff, over the internal announcement system came a stern warning from the train manager to anyone else who thought they could be clever. Well done, I thought thank goodness the staff have standards to follow and uphold them. On leaving the train I noticed elderly passengers were helped by very attentive Virgin Train station staff.  What a difference and what a joy. Thanks must go to Richard Branson for his attention to detail and customer care.
