'Letters to the Editor'

Pudsey Bear

Dear Editor, For the last umpteen years I have never liked the BBC Scotland version of 'Children in Need'. It always appeared to be a rather down beat production, however, for some reason this year the programme improved by fifty per cent and if I was honest, it actually was a better production than that transmitted from London. So well done BBC Scotland, if you are on the right track 2010 programme will be an improvement on 2009.

Hovercraft

Dear Editor, It is good to see that Stagecoach are progressing with their plans for a Kirkcaldy/Edinburgh Ferry crossing. They have put in place a £14m private funding package with the Bland Group (A hovercraft manufacturing company). I understand that crossings are expected to be made every 25 minutes at peak times and every hour off-peak, while the 150 passenger craft will be equipped with the latest low noise propeller technology. Any new service would integrate bus services on both sides of the Forth, including shuttle bus links from Portobello to Ocean Terminal in Leith and Waverley Bridge in the heart of Edinburgh. Well done Stagecoach and the Bland Group.

Yours sincerely, David Garlford

UK currency

Dear Editor, Having just arrived back from holidaying in Italy and using the euro as local currency, I am beginning to think that, if we used the Euro in UK there would be no requirement for currency exchange rates and two different types of currency one for spending in UK and the other in EU countries.
