'Letters to the Editor'

Thank You

Dear Editor, I thought I would write to say Thank You to you and your staff for the effort and work you put into producing your wonderful magazine. I enjoy reading each issue and wait with patience for the next one to be published.

Scrooge

Dear Editor, Council Scrooge, I was concerned to learn the other day from a friend that Sheriff Officers had given him a warrant to appear before the Sheriff Court, to be made insolvent/bankcrupt because of an alleged failure to pay Council Tax. His Local Council, by doing this has put a pensioner in a precarious position. Even worse the information on the Warrant referred to a date prior to him living at his present home. They have given him seven working days to stump up thousands of pounds. The worst part of all – this was done over the Christmas/new year celebrations. As a result when he tried to contact the Council no one was available to resolve the issue due to the xmas holiday period. This is all very fine for the staff – but no good for a citizen who has to wait over the holiday period before there is a resolution to the issue. It is worse than poinding.

Dear Editor, Students in Scotland and the UK these days need to finance themselves for courses at Universities and Colleges. In a global knowledge economy Scotland should take the lead. Simply by paying students to take courses in subjects that they excel in. That way Scotland will be able to develop as the worlds centre of education and knowledge excellence.
