Mid May to the end of July 2006, CowParade
Edinburgh. The CowParade comes to Edinburgh, bringing
up to 100 colourful cow sculptures and statues displayed in the
streets, parks and historic locations of City. Artists are encouraged
to create works of art to inspire and raise a smile from locals
and visitors. The finale of the CowParade Edinburgh involves many
of the cows sold at a gala auction with 75% of proceeds going to

5th Aug 2006 Scottish Borders. These celebrations represent the ancient
practice of marking a town's boundaries and continue today as distinctive
and colourful expressions of civic pride and tradition. Each Borders
town celebrates its history with magnificent rideouts involving hundreds
of horses, ridden with a passion worthy of the reivers old.

30th June to 2nd July 2006, Game Conservancy
Scottish Fair, Scone Palace, Perthshire. With competitions,
displays and demonstrations, the fair is one of the main countryside
events of the year in Scotland. Traditional country contests of
shooting, fishing and gundogs feature on a varied programme alongside
quad biking, military re-enactment displays, food and drink fair,
shopping and children's activities. The ever-popular Red Arrows

June to 1st July 2006, Gail Davies at the Bein Inn, Perthshire.
Country Music International recently referred to Gail Davies as "One
of the most important and influential female singer/songwriters to
have been involved in country music in the past 20 years." She
was the first woman to produce her own records and is cited by current
divas Kathy Mattea, Susy Boggus and Pam Tillis as their role model,
the person who kicked open so many of the closed doors on Music Row.

to 16th July 2006 Barclays Scottish Open, Loch Lomond. An event
which forms part of the European PGA golf tour, Barclays Bank Scottish
Open draws an outstanding selection of players from around the world.
The competition takes place on the beautiful and exclusive Loch Lomond

& 16th July 2006, The Rat Race Urban Adventure, Edinburgh.
Hundreds of competitors from all over the UK and abroad will use the
facilities of streets, waterways and hills in and around Edinburgh
for this year's Rat Race. The two-day adventure race will challenge
the most decerning of athletes in teamwork and endurance over a varied

is a dynamic vintage/classic car show, staged annually at the Grampian
Transport Museum. Featuring cars ranging from steamcars to supercars.

to 23rd July 2006, The City of Inverness Highland Games, 2006 World
Masters Championships, Inverness. The largest and most entertaining
Highland Games held in the Scottish Highlands will be hosting the

A celebration of the best youth talent from all parts of the world,
this event brings Aberdeen to life offering 10 days of dazzling entertainment,

to 26th August 2006,Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Edinburgh. Scotland's
stunning annual outdoor military spectacular with its' magnificent
backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. The Tattoo has been referred to as the
most spectacular show in the world and is watched by an international
TV audience of 100 million every year. There is no substitute for
being there, as part of the 217,000-strong audience over its three-week

August to 3rd September 2006, Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh.
One of the greatest celebrations of the arts, the Edinburgh

to 28th August 2006, Marymass Festival, Irvine, Ayrshire. This
is one of the biggest community events of its kind in Scotland, it
offers a wealth of special events and activities, which includes 'The
Pageantry of the Marymass Parade' with its origins in medieval times.
Horses from the local carters pull the parade floats. The torchlit
procession, the folk festival, sports events, music festival and horse

14th to 16th September 2006, The ISDS Centenary
International Sheep Dog Trials near Kelso. The International
Sheep Dog Society was formed in 1906 in Haddington and returns to
its place of origin for the 2006 Centenary International Trials.
These will be held on the Charterhall Estates, near Kelso. The local
committee is already planning something special and it promises

24 September 2006, The World Stone Skimming
Championships 2006, Easdale Island, Argyll, Scotland. This
is an annual event. People of all ages and any level
of skill can enter. Competitors are allowed 5 skims using specially
selected Easdale slate skimming stones. To qualify, the stone must
bounce at least three times - it is then judged on the distance
achieved before it sinks. For full competition rules and details

29th September to 15th October 2006, Highland
Feast, various venues in Scottish Highlands. The Highlands'
Food and Drink Festival grows bigger and better every year, in 2006
it is extending over a wonderful 17 days. Events are take place
