'Letters to the Editor'

Road Junction

Dear Editor, When I passed my driving test, which was a long time ago, it was a understood requisition that you were courteious to your fellow drivers. Nowadays, everyone is in such a rush that they pull out of junctions, right in front of you and 'tail-gate' at the back of you when driving down the motorway or any other road. Do drivers not realise that many accidents and deaths are caused by these actions.

Train

Dear Editor, Every day I am finding more and more people who are in possession of a Fife Bus Pass (once used for cheap travel on the local trains) in an absolute frenzy because the rail concession has been removed. An Old Age Pensioner friend of mine was charge £6.50p return for travel to Edinburgh from central Fife. At one time this journey would have only cost £1. Well, the trains are now empty and the buses are full. Does this mean that the bus operators will now ask for a larger contribution to cover this cost?

Bank

Dear Editor, I recently payed a visit to a branch of a prominent bank to be greated by a member of staff who advised me that I could not pay into my account, a cheque received from USA because it was showing dollars. I was told I had to complete a special form first. On a previous occassion at another branch of the same bank a USA dollar cheque was paid in without a problem. I was reminded by the member of staff that she had worked with the bank for over six years and she knew what she was talking about. Somehow, I do not think so. Perhaps all the staff should be trained to sing from the same hymn sheet.
