It is a well known fact that over many years the Scottish voters have tended to lean towards voting Labour in General Elections, however, will this trend continue in 2005? The issue with the Scottish voters appears not to be the Party but its' leader.

Let's look at some of the events that have taken place over the last two years:-

"Since the day when Blair announced that he backed President Bush over the War in Iraq members of the public have looked on him as being a pawn in Americas pocket, Why? we ask ourselves, is Britain following someone elses' agenda instead of our own. Is it because Blair, who tends to be surrounded by non elected advisers, requires their advice before he can make a decision?. The Scots are proud people who like to stand on their own two feet and respect individuals who can make their own well thought out decisions.

One of Scotland's longest serving regiments 'The Black Watch', as well as other regiments, is threatened with extinction Why? Is it because Blair is not politically astute enough to realise that to keep the Scottish vote and Labour in power he needs to treat the Scottish people with more respect or is Scotland so far north of Watford that we do not count."

From now until the next General Election, which rumour has it, will be held in May, we will be bombarded with articles released by the Downing Street Machine. Is this because someone with a bit of sanity realises the voters need to be tempted back to the fold? Or, is it, because the person in charge of the election process likes to see their name in the media? Whatever the reason, it could be too late. Blair recently appeared on day time TV and at other venues to enhance his image with the public, and enhanced it was when a number of members from the audience at these venues told him what they thought of him. Not quite the image he had hoped for!!!

So, what does this tell us?

Perhaps it is time he hung up his keys to Number 10 and left quietly while his reputation is not as tarnished as it might be if he hangs on. Perhaps he wants to leave Downing Street in the same manner as Mrs Thatcher?
