Dear Editor, what a surprise turn out for the Referendum on Congestion Charges in Edinburgh. 74% of the votes cast were a 'NO' vote. Is is heartening to acknowledge the fact that Edinburgh still has sensible people living there. The congestion problem is still not resolved, and in my opinion, it will not be, until someone authorises the reversal of the traffic control systems imposed over the last decade. All the one way street systems, the removal of all the road bumps, the demise of bus lanes and the introduction of adequate, proper and reasonably priced car parking areas are only the tip of the ice-berg. As most of Fife's dwellers now work in Edinburgh there is more reason to introduce ferries from various areas along the Fife coast to Leith or Granton. Or is that too simple a solution.
