Passenger train

Dear Editor, I cannot understand why the Health and Safety Executive have rules for people working in their place of employment but seem to fail to cover staff working on passenger trains. Last week I took a relative of mine to the station to board a train travelling from Fife to London Kings Cross, unfortunately the carriage her seat was booked in was missing. To access the train she had to step over passengers blocking the doors. When the train arrived in Edinburgh there was definitely no room for additional passengers. How does the ticket collector/guard do his or her job when they are prevented from walking through the carrriages from one end of the train to another? How many people would have been killed had the train been involved in a crash? It is about time legislation was brought out to avoid this situation.

Gas as used on gas cookers

Dear Editor, I am concerned about the cost of Gas bills. Our bills went up by leaps and bounds last year when the price of oil escalated out of control. Now the price of oil has dropped dramatically but all the Gas utilities can afford to reduce our bills by is a small 10%. They also still hang on to your money paid in advance and refuse to be fair. That is they will not refund the overpayments. It is time that the authorities did something about these two scams?

Best wishes

Credit card

Dear Editor, The media are hyping up the credit crunch and one wonders why? The reason I query the issue is that over the weekend I spoke to two bankers and they quite clearly said what credit crunch! it is business as usual.

best wishes, Creditcrunchitis
