Scotland4me.net are
proud to introduce our readers to Teresa Doughty who for
thirty years since leaving Art College has pursued her occupation
as a professional artist, taking commissions, building up
her stock of paintings, learning to do etching at the DCA,
mounting exhibitions throughout the UK and marketing her
work. Teresa is now having cards made from her paintings.
You may wonder why Teresa's work is featured on our 'New
Kids on the Block' page, our magzine is new and Teresa's
work is new to the magazine. As Teresa says "my work
is an attempt to achieve harmony, order and beauty through
the resolution of conflict by the use of creativity. It
is a search for meaning in a world which seems to present
conflict and chaos. I see the limitation of traditional
forms to explore a spiritual response to visual experience.
In the last few years, beauty expressing a spiritual approach
to the visual world was my aim, and exploring colour a way
of doing this". She percieves there is an essence in
the being of things and people that is living energy and
is moving towards a bigger harmony. Teresa wishes to develop
this in her painting. She tries to achieve an aesthetic
harmony and colour in her work by using fairly traditional
subjects in oils, etchings and watercolours. Flower studies
and portraits are a speciality.
On this page you can view a small selection
