Once again the people of Edinburgh brace themselves for the influx of tourists from all over the world who visit the city at this time of the year to enjoy the entertainment offerred by artists old and new. From classical music to fringe show humour and street entertainers there is something to suit every age group and taste. From the North of the city to the South, East and West corners, venues of every shape and size allow the entertainers of the present day and newcomers to the profession prove to their audience that they have what it takes to make it to the top. Let us not forget the abundance of exhibitions on offer over this festive period. From Art Exhibitions showing the work of new artists along with a collection of exhibitions on behalf of Interior Designers, Fashion Designers, Silversmiths/ Goldsmiths, Potters, Photographers and many more crafts, there is not enough time during the festive period to visit all of them as some are located outwith the boundaries of Edinburgh City Centre, but that should not deter anyone from making the effort and possibly discovering new talent in the process. The 'Fringe' as it is known in the entertainment world brings another dimension to the Festival. It allows new works and new participants in this field to try out their ideas and hopefully be spotted by an entrepreneur who will help make the project famous. Unknown script writers, actors, comediens, singers and other entertainers put on the show of their lifetime while anxiously waiting to find fame and fortune. Many of our current famous entertainers made their first stage appearance treading the boards at the 'Fringe'. Workshops are another favourite with the public, acess to lessons on dance, music and drama, demonstrations, theatre direction and design plus lots more give everyone the opportunity to experience at first hand the requirements needed to enter the world of entertainment.
