to 12th August 2006, Aberdeen International Youth Festival, Aberdeen.
A celebration of the best youth talent from all parts of the world,
this event brings Aberdeen to life offering 10 days of dazzling entertainment,
music, theatre and dance, starting off with a colourful grand parade
through the city centre. Events will be taking place throughout the
northeast. From orchestral concerts to steel drums, song recitals,
massed choirs, traditional music, ballet, African dance and drumming,

4th to 26th August 2006,Edinburgh Military
Tattoo, Edinburgh. Scotland's stunning annual outdoor military
spectacular with its' magnificent backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.
The Tattoo has been referred to as the most spectacular show in
the world and is watched by an international TV audience of 100
million every year. There is no substitute for being there, as part
of the 217,000-strong audience over its three-week season on the

August 2006, Tartan Day, Aberdeen. This event gives visitors
to the city and local inhabitants an opportunity to participate in
a wide range of free activities including walking tours, music events
and art exhibitions focussing on traditional local and Scottish culture

August to 3rd September 2006, Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh.
One of the greatest celebrations of the arts, the Edinburgh
International Festival offers a unique opportunity to experience the
excitement of live performance by internationally renowned artists
as well as the joy of discovering new and unfamiliar works. A rich
programme of classical music, theatre, opera and dance is staged in
major theatres and concert halls and smaller venues around the city

to 28th August 2006, Marymass Festival, Irvine, Ayrshire. This
is one of the biggest community events of its kind in Scotland, it
offers a wealth of special events and activities, which includes 'The
Pageantry of the Marymass Parade' with its origins in medieval times.
Horses from the local carters pull the parade floats. The torchlit
procession, the folk festival, sports events, music festival and horse

year's event proved to be a huge success when members of the public

Trials near Kelso. The International Sheep Dog Society was
formed in 1906 in Haddington and returns to its place of origin for
the 2006 Centenary International Trials. These will be held on the
Charterhall Estates, near Kelso. The local committee is already planning
something special and it promises to be an event to remember. For

September 2006, The World Stone Skimming Championships 2006, Easdale
Island, Argyll, Scotland. This is an annual
event. People of all ages and any level
of skill can enter. Competitors are allowed 5 skims using specially
selected Easdale slate skimming stones. To qualify, the stone must
bounce at least three times - it is then judged on the distance achieved

and Galloway. The Scottish Book Town Festival is a celebration

6th to 15th October 2006, Cowalfest 2006,
Dunoon and Cowal, Argyllshire. The largest walking festival
in Scotland has also become a major arts festival with a 10 day
long programme of walks, arts, cultural and social events that celebrate
landscape and the natural world's influence on creativity. The Cowal
Peninsula hosts this event every autumn and the West Highland destination
is readily accessible by plane, train, car and ferry from the rest
