Dear Editor, the section of A9 road which runs from Perth to Inverness appears to be causing much anxiety and grief due to the many fatal road accidents which take place on it. Some time ago the Scottish Parliament debated spending money on improving this section of road against spending money on re-introducing trams to the City of Edinburgh. The First Minister Alex Salmond was keen for this to go ahead. Unfortunately the trams won the arguement. Personally, I feel the money would have been more sensibly spent on the A9, how many trams kill people? Yes, there are some silly ideas put into place when common sense should be used. Dear Editor, On a recent shopping trip to Edinburgh my friend and I fruitlessly searched the main stores to purchase a particular cardigan that I wanted. On visiting a Princes Street store I spotted a lady wearing the exact type of cardigan I was looking for and discovered that she had purchased hers in Shetland where she lived. After exchanging details I received the much sought after cardigan only three days later, and promptly sent off money to cover the price of purchase and postage. I was amazed at receiving the garment before paying for it. It just goes to show that there are people out there who trust each other. Mrs Pamela Litster, Fife, Scotland | ||

Dear Editor, It is a pity that the computer system used by the ticket office of the Edinburgh Fringe has caused such heartache and fury by crashing. At this time of the year, Edinburgh is full of tourists hoping to be entertained by the shows staged by the fringe. Let's hope that some one is able to rectify the problem before too much bad feeling creeps in and spoils the efforts and hard work put in by the fringe performers. Name and address withheld
