Dear Editor, Why did the Scottish Government spend £600M on a tram system in Edinburgh which was not necessarily needed. While schools throughout the country are falling apart from neglect and lack of interest in keeping them maintained. I think educating our youth is far more important than disrupting a city for years and leaving it with perhaps a tram system that looks good but a city full of closed shops and hotels because during the building of the tram system the upheaval has put off visitors to the city. Dear Editor, I am not surprised with all this uproar involving workers in the Oil Industry going on strike. A few years ago the son of a friend of mine worked for a construction company when all of a sudden he was paid off. In his place, the same construction company hired two foriegn workers for a lesser salary. These employees could not speak English and had never worked in the construction industry before, so each morning the foreman had to spend time with them making sure they had instructions about what was required and how to do it. Not a very good example of time management. My friend's son ended up unemployed for a number of months through no fault of his. How many other people has this happened to? Dear Editor, Not everyone knows this, but the government in collusion with the EU, to take off the shelves of UK shops, the standard electric lamp bulbs and leaving us with the flourescent type. These are defined as Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs) by the government. After 2012 the EU will not allow the standard lamp bulb to be sold. As a result of this I can see a black market in standard light bulbs as CFL's are not as functional and in some cases will not fit the lamp holder in the same way as standard ones do. Is this not an infringement of our liberty? Should we not be enouraged to use CFL's as opposed to it being made mandatory? A disgusted EU voter | ||
