"Sell out for new author Bob"

Bob Adams OBE, who is a new author and well known playwright launched his first novel last week to a packed audience at Aberdour Golf Clubhouse. The clubhouse, filled to capacity, heard Bob talk about the background to his novel SPYBUS. His book a humorous thriller set in Eastern Europe. He expressed his view that humour and laughter lightens every dark situation. Therefore he felt free to bring humour into the most savage of today’s outrages. The event opened as he read passages from his book that drew laughter and thoughtful silences from the many listeners. John Cairney joined him for a final duologue which Bob likened to a guest in one of Ernie Wise’s sketches/plays what he wrote.

Bob rounded off the evening by signing copies of his books. The good news is that the event was a sell-out, every book was sold and some had to order copies. Bob then repeated the performance at Blackwell’s in Edinburgh when again the sales of SPYBUS exceeded everyone’s expectations.

In the past Bob has written, published and performed several plays. His first play won him an 'Alan Ayckbourne prize for short plays' in 1989. Since then he has written plays on conservation, take over bids, cloning (before it became a fashionable subject) and a comedy in a transplant ward in a hospital. His latest plays have been comedies set in the farming community.

His earlier career involved Bob working in the timber and furniture industries in Africa and Scotland along with serving as an officer in the Parachute Regiment. He was awarded the OBE in 1980.
