Proposed Edinburgh Tram

Dear Editor, Last month you published a letter regarding the amount of money spent on the Edinburgh Tram System as opposed to using it for improving the road network in the North of Scotland. I hasten to add an improved road is much needed, infact I would put it at the top of my priority list if I were an MSP. The recent fiasco regarding one of the companies involved in building the tram system asking for more momney, is unfortunate. However, I cannot help thinking that if the project to improve the roads had gone ahead very few problems would have resulted from it. It was a less complicated and less disruptive option.

Wheelie bins

Dear Editor, What is everyone thinking about regarding bin collections. One minute the bins are emptied once a week then once a fortnight now a suggestion for monthly collection of rubbish has been proposed. I can remember long ago, households had one large bucket, once a week the bin man walked down your path and carried the bin to the cart for emptying, then returned it to its' original place. The pavements were not 'littered' with a multitude of different coloured bins, some left out for days on end. Has anyone heard of waste disposal units?

Royal Bank of Scotland logo

Dear Editor, Businesses are closing, people are loosing their jobs, homes and way of life. Banks are being bailed out by the government, but why? The banks are responsible for wasting money on high salaries, paid to those who do not deserve it. Bad investments and bad business decisions. The government gave them money to pass on to small businesses who are struggling. I think a selection of people running small businesses should be in charge of the banks. They would not waste money and perhaps the banks would actually make a good profit.
