Dear Editor, Edinburgh City Council are talking about reviving a tram
system to help alleviate the traffic problem in the centre of the city.
I hope someone realises that Bordeaux, France did just that by re-introducing
a tram system which opened in December 2005 and is being extended to other
parts of that area. In my mind they were very clever by limiting the number
of tram lines allowing connection points at strategic stops in the network.
This has resulted in trams running every three minutes or so on the same
journey, there are no queues that build up, the stop you are at only has
one identified route and destination. The system is a credit to the officials
of Bordeaux. Mrs K Horne, Fife, Scotland

Dear Editor, What is this all about the people resident
in England not being allowed to have certain drugs that could prolong
their life, but patients in Scotland will be given the drugs. Since the
Scottish Parliament came into being it has been a shambles from the start,
too expensive and now becoming more distant from the United Kingdom as
a whole. If we are to think of ourselves as British, then everyone, no
matter where they live, should have equal opportunity and find themselves
with the same benefits throughout the country. Mrs P Naylor, England

Dear Editor, I recently travelled on a British Airways flight from London
Gatwick to Edinburgh and to my horror noticed a passenger had with him
a selection of wine bottles. Now, I ask, why are passengers screaned for
dangerous sharp objects prior to boarding the plane when people can purchase
glass bottles containing spirits or wine then board the aircraft. Or are
these bottles perhaps made from unbreakable glass?
