'Letters to the Editor'

Estate Agent

Dear Editor, House sales in Scotland could be non existent from 1st December 2008, not because of the hype about a credit crunch but due to an added expensive burden being put onto house sellers. I am talkimg about a new scheme being introduced where house sellers arrange for a Home Report to be produced. A Home Report consists of three documents:- a Single Survey, an Energy Report and a Property Questionnaire. The Home Report will be made available on request to prospective buyers of the home. The Single Survey contains an assessment by a surveyor of the condition of the home and a valuation. The Energy Report contains an assessment by a surveyor of the energy efficiency of the home and its environmental impact. The Property Questionnaire is completed by the seller of the home. It contains additional information about the home, such as Council Tax banding and other information which will be useful to buyers. The cost of this scheme could be in the region of £500-£700.

Dear Editor, I am concerned about the proposed takeover of HBOS by Lloyds TSB as the EU have brought out competition/monopoly laws to avoid companies having too large a market share. The EU have intervened with other companies for example Brityish Airways/Virgin Airways so why do they not intervene here?

Dear Editor, A couple of months ago you published a letter from a reader regarding the high cost of fuel, well I am happy to report that petrol prices have come down in Pertshire and I hope the same has been applied elsewhere in the whole of the United Kingdom.
