'Letters to the Editor'

Football Stadium

Dear Editor, the recent suggestion that the Olympics in 2012 include a football competition is too much to bear. We get football and more football all year round on most television channels whether we like it or not. I always thought the sports channels were introduced specifically for that purpose. I say 'NO' to this proposal and I am sure most of your readers will think the same.

Dear Editor, This credit crunch business appears in the press all the time spelling doom and gloom but there ARE people who are spending as if there is no tomorrow. Is it not time the Banks started to behave like Banks who care for their customers. Since call centres were introduced and bank managers were made obsolete there seems to be no decision making at the grass roots. All decisions on lending etc appear to be made by a computer consulting a check list programmed into its' system and credit records (which are not always accurate). Bring back the human part of the process and let customers get to know their bank manager and vice versa. That way sensible decisions will be made.

Dear Editor, Has this country gone bonkers? The recent incident in Shropshire which is disturbing could also bring out background reasons for the cause of it. I know of people who due to no fault of their own although they have worked all their lives, hit a slow down in their business but are now picking up after eight months of non activity. They too, like similar details reported on the Foster's case, tried to sell their house to pay off any small debt they had and then discovered the local council had put a restriction on doing this, all for a few hundred pounds of council tax for the current year. If people are being trapped by unfair and rediculous burocracy, how can they resolve any financial problems? I am sure there must be hundreds of members of the public out there in the same situation.
