' Glenda Naik and Usborne Books'

Glenda Naik is the mother of two very active young children who are both under school age. After receiving a degree at St Andrew's University and working in a career related to Hunan Resources, she now finds herself spending time between motherhood and being a wife with encouraging children of all ages to pick up a book to read and learn from it.

This career change was not planned in any way but came about due to a piece of advertising material dropping through her letter box. On investigation Glenda discovered a whole new interest in selling literature on behalf of Usborne Books.

"There are advantages to taking on a task like this, for example, the hours I devote to the job can vary from week to week. I can plan my family's social life around visiting schools, nurseries, clubs and hosting book parties. I have made many new friendships especially with young mothers in the same position as myself, who enjoy taking care of their family but require an outside interest as well. My children also help in a round about way, they are always intrigued when new stock arrives and I noticed their enhanced curiosity for learning when I started in this field. They do have their favourite books but also collect new editions as and when they are published" said Glenda.

She continued "The books will last for a long time due to the high quality of materials used and will remain either as reference material during school days or be treasured by the owner. I was amazed at the selection of learning packages available from Usborne, when we think about a book company that is exactly what we expect - Books - , however, the company in addition to this also produce learning aids for all ages. Spelling, telling the time, history, art, speaking a new language are only a sample of what the company provide".
