'Letters to the Editor'

Dear Editor, I recently visited a PC World outlet to buy office furniture to be told that due to the weight of the product they could not deliver the items. The goods were too large to fit in my car. At this point I asked if the goods could be reserved until I found the appropriate transport to collect them, the reply was 'there is no need for that as we do not sell many of these items'. I am not surprised when they refuse to deliver them to their customers.

Dear Editor, Another *fine* mess. What a country we live in! We are fined for submitting late tax returns £100, for not telling the car licensing people that your car is off the road £85 and fined £100's for not having a TV license when we have no TV. To cap the lot the Inland Revenue intend to bankrupt our citizens with a hefty £60 a day fine for late returns. Nice income earning wheeze by the Revenue. Good poverty trap and danger to the health of our voters and the nation. It is time to call a halt. We need protection. Perhaps we need an organisation to protect our citizens, how about a Campaign Against Unfair Fines?

Dear Editor, I am aghast about the furore around the Forth Road Bridge and it's life expectancy. If engineers cannot build a bridge to last longer than 40 years why build another bridge? It just goes to show that at the time the Forth Rail Bridge was built people knew what they were doing and built a bridge to be proud of. We still have the River Forth, virtually free from sailing ships so why not have ferry crossings instead? Or is that too simple a solution?
