Dear Editor, what a hue and cry about building a third bridge over the River Forth, all this would not be necessary if Fife Council stopped giving planning permission to builders who polute the coutryside with concrete blocks. Anyone travelling through the Eastern Expansion in Dunfermline will find dozens of for sale signs outside recently purchased new houses, this is because the owners work in Edinburgh and cannot reach their place of employment unless squashed in a crowded train or sitting in a traffic jam for at least an hour longer than the journey would normally take. If it takes 11 years to build this new bridge will one new bridge be enough? Mr McPhinnie, Scotland |

Dear Editor, I was very interested in your article published in the April issue regarding the M74, what must visitors to Scotland think when they see an unfinished road. It gives the impression that we (Scots) never see a project through to its conclusion. Hopefully this saga will finally be put to rest when the essential missing parts of the M74/M8 are linked together. Mr James Horne, Scotland Further information on the M74/M8 can be found at www.pathetic.org.uk |
