'Letters to the Editor'

Passport

Dear Editor, I recently received my brand new Passport. On visiting a local bank I was asked for proof of identity and proudly produced my new document. To my amazement the teller asked if the document was mine as I did not look like the person in the photograph. New passports require photographs of the holder without glasses and a fringe. Needless to say I wear glasses and I also have a fringe. Let's hope the immigration people do not have the same problem otherwise there will be endless queues of Brits waiting to return home.

Xmas Lights

Dear Editor, As the mother of three young children I find that christmas comes early enough in December. Why are some department stores selling christmas decorations in August? All this does is upset children who have no concept of time and will bring them distress because santa has not arrived yet. Will these shops insist on having santa around for months prior to hanging up our xmas stockings?

Wheelie Bins

Dear Editor, It was recently reported in the local press that wheelie bins will be fitted with a device that can identify the weight of the waste in the bin and which property the bin is allocated to. What a nonsense, at present people pop their waste into neighbours bins under cover of darkness. I think there will be lots of fun swapping bins around an estate when this procedure is in operation. Is the reason for the devices to charge people for collection by the weight of their refuse?.
